Welcome Greyton Lodge

A secluded getaway, a stunning wedding venue and a romantic honeymoon destination, a fully-equipped conference centre, a great restaurant - Greyton Lodge offers all this and more.

Thanks to sensitive and careful renovations, Greyton Lodge remains a typical example of local village architecture. Originally built as a trading store in 1882, then used as the Greyton village police station, Greyton Lodge is now a charmingly renovated collection of cottages, set in lush gardens, rolling lawns, fruit trees, vines and roses.

Situated in the Overberg, which literally means over the mountains, Greyton is a scenic 90-minute drive from Cape Town, close to the Hermanus Whale Coast, and 25 minutes away from the Walker Bay wine route.

When you arrive in Greyton you will find peace and tranquility, and a slower, easier pace of life.  And, like so many of the visitors to Greyton,  you will return, drawn back by the romance of its history, the beauty of the Overberg and the friendliness of the people who live in this small country village.

Greyton Lodge – a superior country hotel

Greyton Lodge is the ideal location for celebrations, functions, holidays and corporate events.

Superb meals, excellent accommodation and personal attention - Greyton Lodge combines the sophistication and luxury of a fine hotel with true country warmth and hospitality.

The chefs at Greyton Lodge run one of the finest restaurants in the country, voted one of the best 800 South African restaurants by Eat Out magazine in 2007 and 2008. In winter our superb cuisine is served in front of a roaring fire, in summer our guests sit under the stars and dine by candlelight in the magical setting of our glorious gardens.

The works of local and well known South African artists  are on display at the GL Gallery, a great place to browse as you enjoy a cup of tea or a drink from the GL bar – aptly named ‘Behind Bars’ as a reminder of the days when Greyton Lodge was the local police station.

Greyton Lodge has full conference facilities for up to 50 people and also offers brilliant amenities for weddings, birthdays or anniversaries. We can cater for up to 80 people in our dining rooms or accommodate larger parties of up to 150 people under a marquee in our beautiful gardens.
